About

Blackburn Vikings Basketball

Blackburn Vikings Basketball is a family oriented club which has been in operation for over 50 years. Its objective is to provide young people with the opportunity to enjoy the sport of basketball in a friendly family atmosphere in teams commensurate with their ability.

The club's 2 court stadium is located at Slater Reserve, North Blackburn and our secondary 2 court stadium is located 5 minutes up the road at East Doncaster Secondary College.

We field teams in the Eastern District Junior Basketball Association (EDJBA), which covers an area from Collingwood in the west to Eltham in the north & Warrandyte in the east.  Each Saturday roughly 50% of our games are at our home stadiums & most other stadiums are within half an hour travel time from our home courts.

We also field teams in the Junior Domestic weeknight competition run by the Melbourne East Basketball Association (MEBA).  Most games are played at Nunawading Stadium on Burwood Hwy near Sprinvale Rd.

We also field teams in the MEBA Senior Domestic Open Age competition as well.

Blackburn Vikings Basketball provides representative basketball to players of all ages looking to both develop their basketball and play at the highest level.

The junior program is apart of the Victorian Junior Basketball League (VJBL), the largest competition in Victoria with teams from all over the state. Currently there are 32 representative teams (Boys and Girls) from under 12’s to under 20’s.

The senior program encompasses a senior men and women’s team competing in the Big V. The program offers an opportunity for players who have been through the junior program at Vikings or elsewhere to continue their basketball at the senior level.

In addition, the association offers development programs, an over 35’s league and the opportunity for it’s players to travel to the United States as part of the clubs bi-annual USA Tour.
