EASTERN DISTRICTS JUNIOR BASKETBALL ASSOCIATION - EDJBA - SATURDAYS

The EDJBA runs a “home and away” Saturday competition covering over 50 basketball stadiums in an area ranging from Collingwood through to Eltham and Park Orchards. Blackburn Vikings home matches are played at Slater Reserve, Mullum Mullum Stadium and Blackburn Primary School.

IF YOU HAVE MISSED THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE, YOU CAN JOIN THE WAITLIST HERE. A $50 late fee WILL APPLY FROM SATURDAY 9TH MARCH AND TEAM PLACEMENT CANNOT BE GUARANTEED.

REGISTRATION FEES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Registration - $325.00* up to and including Friday 8th March. A late fee of $50 will apply from Saturday 9th March, if team placement can be made.

*Registration fees are inclusive of all game fees (grading, regular season and finals). *Basketball Australia has introduced a Game Development Levy. This $5.50 Player Membership fee is paid annually to support the growth and development of basketball at all levels of the game and to enhance opportunities for the sport.

Season dates: The season will run from Saturday 20th April until Saturday 14th September 2024 (inclusive of all finals).

MPORTANT INFORMATION - Please read before registering

Highest level requests: If your child wishes to play at their highest level, please select this in the registration form. Please note, if you request highest level, you will not have the option to include any friendship requests. (Friendship requests are NOT considered when you select highest level). You will be placed with other players who have requested to play at their highest level.
Friendship requests: Friendship requests must be reciprocated to be accommodated. To help with team selection, friendship requests will be limited to two friends. (Unless you have requested to enter a friendship team). You must ensure that the friend your child is requesting to play with falls into the same age group by checking dates of birth against the age group range (see above). This will avoid disappointment when the friendship request cannot be met. Coordinators will not follow up friendship requests that fall outside of their age groups.
Custom/Friendship team: If your child wishes to play as part of a custom or friendship team, the team must have a minimum of 7 players and a coach. Please ensure players fall into the same age group. All players need to include the details of the friendship team in their registration form and the coach will need to complete the Coach’s EOI and list all players. All team members must also be available for training at the same time. If you don’t have a full team, but have a group of players and a coach, please contact the appropriate age group coordinator as it is possible to keep the group together and add some other players.
Playing up an age group: Our preference is for players to play in their correct age group however, specific requests to play up an age group to stay with friends will be at the discretion of the Age Group Coordinator. Please note, coordinators will NOT be following up friendship requests from different age groups. The request to play up an age group to stay with friends is on the individual and must be specified in the registration form with the reason included. If this is not specified, you will be placed in a team in your age group. Friendship teams where the majority of players are required to play up an age group will not be accommodated. We will allow a maximum of two players to play up an age group per team.
Training sessions are held from 4pm Monday to Thursday for one hour. Please list at least two available training days however, the more availability you have for training, the better chance we have to meet other requests, such as friendship requests as well as accommodating your training preferences.
Game Day availability & requests: The general expectation is that players are available all day. For example, all U9 & U11 age groups are expected to be available for most game times from 8:30am to 4:00pm. All U15s to U21s age groups are expected to be available for games from 5:40pm onwards. The EDJBA expect you will be fixtured late games (i.e. 7:20pm and 8:10pm) for less than 50% of your games in one season. Players who are required to play school sport or attend language school MUST advise this in the registration form.
Please note, all requests are just that - requests - and are not guaranteed. BVBA is limited as to the number of requests we can submit to the EDJBA so only valid requests can be taken into account.
Please also note, requests may impact where players are placed and may mean other requests (friendship and/or training) cannot be accommodated.
