The team at Blackburn Vikings Basketball Association (BVBA) is growing. We are seeking individuals with a passion for community sport and a drive to promote basketball in a positive and inclusive environment.
ABOUT US: Blackburn Vikings Basketball Association is a not-for-profit basketball club based in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. The Association has a proud history of offering players the opportunity to play basketball from our development programs through to domestic, junior representative and senior representative competitions. We also offer an O’35s competition.
BVBA currently has 178 domestic teams playing across the EDJBA and MEBA competitions, 25 VJBL representative teams and 4 Senior Big V Teams with over 1400 players registered at the club.

*Basketball Development Coordinator:
Our Basketball Development Coordinator (BDC) will play a pivotal role in advancing the growth and excellence of our junior basketball programs while fostering meaningful community engagement. Through a strong focus on athlete and coach development and coordination of community engagement initiatives, including special events, the BDC will help drive the organisation’s mission to promote basketball and foster a positive, inclusive basketball culture.
This role not only nurtures the development of players and coaches but also enhances BVBA’s visibility and impact within the wider community.
This full time hours position will initially be offered as a 12 month contract with a view to going permanent. The position will be covered by the Sporting Organisation Award and salary will be based on skills and experience.

ABOUT YOU - You will have the following:
Proven experience in coaching basketball at various levels.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals and player and coach development principles.
Demonstrated ability to lead and work with players, parents, coaches and association officials.
Ability to work in a team and/or independently.
Strong organisation skills with a high attention to detail.
Appropriate qualifications – Club Coaching Accreditation.

*Communications officer:
The role of the Communications Officer (CO) is to lead the creation and delivery of social media content as well as enhance and manage the website. An increase of exposure over social media platforms and the BVBA website will be instrumental in elevating our presence not only within the Vikings membership base but also the wider community.
The CO will help showcase the organisation’s mission to promote basketball and foster a positive, inclusive basketball culture.
This role is flexible and varied and the ideal candidate is someone who can enhance BVBA’s visibility and foster meaningful community engagement.
This is a casual position of 10 to 12 hours a week. The position is covered by the Sporting Organisation Award and salary will be based on skills and experience.
AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTIES:
Develop and execute integrated communication strategies that enhance BVBA’s public profile and community engagement.
Manage and grow BVBA’s social media presence, creating engaging and timely content.
Oversee the content management of the BVBA website.
ABOUT YOU - You will have the following:
Demonstrated interest in communications, especially social media and website management
Great interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, good creative judgment, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage projects.
Ability to work in a team and/or independently.
Proven experience in a similar role
Previous experience in community sport

Flexibility to work casual hours around association activities as required
