The team at Blackburn Vikings Basketball Association (BVBA) is growing. We are seeking individuals with a passion for community sport and a drive to promote basketball in a positive and inclusive environment.

ABOUT US: Blackburn Vikings Basketball Association is a not-for-profit basketball club based in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne. The Association has a proud history of offering players the opportunity to play basketball from our development programs through to domestic, junior representative and senior representative competitions. We also offer an O’35s competition. 

BVBA currently has 190 domestic teams playing across the EDJBA and MEBA competitions, 23 VJBL representative teams and 4 Senior Big V Teams with over 1600 players registered at the club. We will also enter teams in the EDL for the upcoming season.

*COMPETITIONS ADMINISTRATOR

Our Competitions Administrator will be the driving force behind the smooth operation of our competitions and will be responsible for managing registrations, liaising with competition administrators, coordinating game day and training venues and delivering high-level communication with participants, officials and stakeholders. You will also provide Finance support.

This is a part time position with an average of 30 hours per week and will be covered by the Sporting Organisation Award. Salary will be based on skills and experience.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Manage registrations, entries, and participant communications

  • Provide administrative support to our junior domestic, Big V and O’35s teams.

  • Liaise with officials, volunteers, and venue staff as required to ensure competition requirements are met

  • Handle enquiries from teams, parents, and stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Ensure compliance with competition rules, safeguarding and governance policies.

  • Provide assistance with Accounts Payable and processing refunds.

ABOUT YOU - You will have:

  •  High level organisation with a high attention to detail and the ability to be self-motivated, responsive and flexible in an environment with time pressures and multiple priorities. Multiple programs and initiatives will need to be managed simultaneously

  • Great interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and the ability to work in a team and/or independently with minimal management oversight.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Office, Xero, Mailchimp, Cognito, Play HQ, and Canva

  • A passion for developing community sport and supporting participants at all levels.

  • Experience in community sports, in particular basketball (desirable)

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Superior organisational skills

  • An ability to work to deadlines

  • Flexibility to work hours around association activities as reasonably required
