Brooke Mudge selected for BV State Development Program

Blackburn Vikings junior Brooke Mudge has been selected in Basketball Victoria's 2026/27 State Development Program (SDP), and the whole club is proud to see her name on the list.

A big step on the pathway

Basketball Victoria announced its 2026/27 SDP and National Performance Program squads on 23 October, drawing athletes from metro and country associations right across the state. Brooke is named in the Metro Girls group, representing the Vikes.

The SDP is a key part of Victoria's high-performance pathway. It is built for emerging talent, with a focus on foundational skills, athletic development and getting a first taste of what a high-performance environment expects. Athletes train under Basketball Victoria's High Performance coaching staff, building their technical skills, game understanding and physical capabilities, along with the confidence and habits that carry them on and off the court.

The program also opens further doors. Under the new structure for 2026/27, SDP athletes can be elevated into the State Performance Program block by block, based on their individual development.

Earned through hard work

Selection doesn't happen by accident. It reflects the hours Brooke has put into her game, at training, on game day and in her own time. As BV's General Manager Pathways, Dom Linossier, put it, "Selection is a proud moment for these athletes", and for the families, coaches and clubs who have backed them along the way.

That support system matters. A big thank you to Brooke's family and to every Vikings coach who has helped her develop. This selection is a reflection of their work too.

What's next

Brooke now heads into the SDP alongside some of the best young players in Victoria, with the chance to challenge herself, learn from others and keep growing her game. We can't wait to follow her journey and see where it takes her.

Congratulations, Brooke. The Vikings community is behind you all the way.
